Use your wheelbarrow to bring hay to the hungry cows
Carry a heavy milk bottle
Pull out fresh carrots from your field
Imagine you are a farmer. Your day starts early in the morning when the sun is just beginning to rise, casting a golden glow over the fields.
First, you need to check on your cows. The cows are eagerly waiting, knowing it's time for breakfast. They need hay, so you load up your sturdy wheelbarrow with heavy hay bags and push it across the dewy grass to the barn. Let’s go! Find a partner – one of you is the farmer, and the other is the wheelbarrow. Work together to move along your chosen course. You can even put obstacles in the way to go around or over. Don’t forget to swap roles so both of you get a turn being the farmer and the wheelbarrow!
You spread the hay out in their troughs, and the cows happily munch away, their tails swishing contentedly. Next, it's time to milk the cows! You wash your hands and gently clean each cow’s udder to keep everything nice and clean. Some farms use machines, but today you decide to milk by hand. It's quiet in the barn, and you enjoy the gentle work and the soft sounds around you.
You collected plenty of milk today. You pour the fresh, warm milk into a big, heavy bottle and carry it back to the house. Now, it's your turn to pretend! Find a heavy object like a milk bottle (choose a weight that's right for your age and size) and carry it along your chosen path. This could be around your home, up and down some steps, or anywhere you like. Remember to switch hands! Each step should feel heavy, so take it slow and steady. Just like a real farmer, you'll grow stronger with every step you take. You can also try marching so your feet won't get wet in the tall, dewy grass around the farm.
Your next task is checking the carrot field. You walk across the rows and wonder if your carrots might be big enough to harvest them. Yes, indeed! They are ready. Now, see if you're strong enough to pull out those big carrots. Remember to pull them out low to the ground!
Great job! You've gathered a lot of carrots in your basket, all ready to be taken to the farmers' market tomorrow. I'm sure your customers will love the taste of your freshly harvested carrots. Why don’t you have a bite of one – maybe there's even a purple or white carrot in the fridge!
You have fed and milked the cows, carried your heavy milk bottle back to the farm, and harvested your carrots – and all this before lunch! It's time to have a well-earned break, farmer!
